500th Pet Rescued by Amelia Air!

Happy New Year to all our family, friends, supporters, and the entire Amelia Air Force! Our first mission of 2022 brought a huge milestone for Amelia Air: we flew our 500th pet to safety!

On January 13, Petra flew to Fresno, CA to pick up Dori and her 7 puppies for our first flight of the new year. Our incredible central coast rescue networker, Angela, actually found a dog by the side of the road on her way to meet Petra at the airport. Luckily, the dog had a loving family who was looking for her, and Angela dropped her at the address on her tag right away!

After facilitating the happy reunion, Angela met Petra at Fresno-Chandler (KFCH) Airport to hand over sweet Dori and her litter of very young puppies. Dori herself has an absolutely adorable puppy face to go with her pocket pittie frame!

After loading up the little family with their extra cute speckled noses, Petra took off for Fullerton, CA (KFUL). After a smooth ride, Petra landed at Fullerton to meet Connie, an amazing volunteer with Ozzy and Friends Rescue. Connie will foster the entire family until the babies are old enough to be adopted, at which point Dori and all 7 of her pups will be placed in the perfect home.

With our count at 495 beforehand, this puppy party brought Amelia Air’s total to 503 pets rescued since our inception in September of 2019. But we’re not stopping there: we have big dreams to double our impact by rescuing 500 animals in 2022 alone. Follow along, check out the recap video below, drop us a line, donate to help us reach our goals, and thank you for being the support system that makes our missions possible!

**Update: just 10 days after getting her freedom flight, mama dog Dori has been adopted! We are so happy this adorable mom will get to be the center of her forever family’s universe. Have a happy life Dori!
