Dozen Dog Rescue with Priceless Pets and Rescue from the Hart!
On January 27, Petra took off for her third mission of the week to help a dozen more dogs in Porterville! Ten of the dogs had been surrendered from a tragic situation: a disabled veteran, living alone, had grown too ill to properly care for his dogs. Shannon, an incredible rescue networker in the area who we work with regularly, had heard about the household’s plight and asked if Amelia Air could help. Priceless Pet Rescue, another frequent collaborator, graciously agreed to take in the veteran’s ten dogs and get them vetted, socialized, and prepared for happily ever after.
The last two dogs on this flight roster, Stewie and Magpie, had a different story: found separately as strays, they bonded during their time at the Porterville Animal Shelter. Annie with Rescue from the Hart saw their sweet scruffy faces and agreed to find them fosters and forever families, if Amelia Air could get the pair to LA. So Petra flew to Porterville to pick up all dozen dogs, and then on to Chino, where she delivered the veteran’s ten pups into the capable hands of Priceless Pet Rescue. Finally, Petra took off for home: Whiteman Airport, just north of Los Angeles, where a dedicated foster with Rescue from the Hart was waiting to welcome Stewie and Magpie.
Huge thanks to Shannon in Porterville, Ashlee at Priceless Pets, Annie & Gina with Rescue from the Hart, and to David for meeting Petra at the airport to help clean all those crates!
