A relay flight of 4 dogs

In March, we flew the trusty Piper Saratoga down to Blacksburg VA, to pick up 4 dogs from a relay pilot who had flown them up from South Carolina where they had been brought to the shelter with a death sentence unless adopted.

Although this dog wasn’t the most comfortable flier, it’s remarkable how resilient dogs can be when picked up at the destination airport (in this case, Baltimore MD where we dropped them off). They tend to be SO happy, similar to any human who’s terrified of flying and kisses the ground when they land.

Again, in the Saratoga, this was slightly more than an hour flight for the dogs, and would have been almost 6 hours driving – much quicker and frankly, more humane!
