Shih Tzu SQuad!

Remember Annie, whose group Rescue from the Hart brought Paddington the puppy back from the brink after he was hit by a car? She reached out to Petra with another urgent mission: Seymour, a 12-week-old Shih Tzu puppy, had been found with a congenital defect and needed specialty medical care.

Petra flew from Los Angeles to Porterville, where Shannon from the local animal shelter was waiting to make the handoff. Seymour and his three other Shih Tzu friends, Savannah, Sampson, and Sawyer, had been dumped in a school parking lot. Their lives were in constant jeopardy due to the ebb and flow of traffic, so a huge thank you goes out to Shannon and her team at the Porterville animal shelter for putting in the hard work to get this SQuad to safety!

After loading them into the Piper Cherokee, Petra flew the crew of 4 from Porterville (KPTV) to her home airport, Whiteman (KWHP). The quad of Shih Tzus were incredibly relaxed throughout the flight, either snuggling with each other or fluffing up the blankets in their kennels for optimum coziness.

After a smooth flight, Petra landed at Whiteman and handed over the pups to Annie and a volunteer from Rescue from the Hart. Well, she tried to hand them over - little Seymour basically latched himself onto Petra’s shoulder and didn’t want to budge!

Thanks to Annie and her team, Seymour has seen a specialty doctor for both his eye and his congenital condition, and the prognosis looks great for this sweet little guy. He will likely undergo an operation once he is old enough, and then will live out a full and happy life as all dogs deserve to do! Please enjoy this recap video of Petra’s latest dog rescue adventure.

**Update: Thank you to everyone who has reached out in support of this special rescue! This mission is proof that purebred dogs end up in shelters and unfortunate situations all the time, alongside adorable mixed breeds who have done nothing to deserve their fate. If you are interested in finding a new family member, we always encourage you to look on Petfinder, AdoptaPet or your local shelter instead of buying a puppy. We promise you that if you open your heart, your next best friend is already waiting for you to find him or her!
